Samantha practices in the areas of municipal planning and development, construction law and commercial litigation.
Samantha is routinely contacted in respect of land use and planning matters, assisting clients with contentious developments, whether as counsel for developers or surrounding landowners. Samantha represents clients before municipalities, and often addresses planning and development matters before appeal boards, the Court of King's Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal.
In addition, Samantha has extensive experience enforcing restrictive covenants and other registered instruments on title, and has experience with judicial review. Samantha has also assisted claimants in expropriation matters before the Land Compensation Board (now the Land and Property Rights Tribunal).
In her construction and commercial litigation practice, Samantha has acted as counsel before all levels of court in Alberta, and has experience representing parties in arbitrations, mediations and negotiations. Samantha has experience acting as first and second counsel on project disputes involving deficiencies and overruns, delay, lien claims, surety claims, as well as contract, product liability, intellectual property and insurance matters. Samantha also has experience in employment matters representing both employees and employers, including acting as counsel on matters before the Alberta Human Rights Commission.
In 2025, Samantha was named as an Associate to Watch in Real Estate Zoning/Land Use by Chambers Canada, and was named as a One to Watch in the areas of Corporate and Commercial Litigation and Municipal Law in Best Lawyers' 2025 edition.
Prior to joining Rose LLP as an associate in 2018, Samantha articled and practiced in the litigation department of the Calgary office of an international law firm, and during law school, Samantha spent a year working in the legal department of a major pipeline company and was awarded the Norman J. Pollock Award for excellence in advocacy.
During her Master's Degree at Queen's University, Samantha's research focused on the effects of benzene on cellular pathways, with her research being published in the peer-reviewed journal, Toxicological Sciences.
Samantha is actively involved in the Calgary community. From 2021 to 2024, Samantha was the Director of Development - Elboya, on the Elboya Britannia Community Association, and she is currently a Director of the Lougheed House Conservation Society where she sits on its governance committee.
